ABOUT OUR CHURCH

First Church/Primera Iglesia is unique in the Raleigh area because in 1991 we started ministering to the recent immigrants in the Spanish language, and yet, in time, many of those immigrants became residents and citizens and had families whose children preferred to communicate in the English language.

To meet the needs of all involved we have developed into a bilingual multicultural church.

Many of our ministries include a bilingual setting, such as our children’s and youth ministries.

Our Sunday morning service is bilingual with English being the predominant language.

We have people from many different cultures and races attend this service on Sundays at 10:00 AM.

Tuesday night is dedicated to Christian training, and we have bilingual teaching in the adult service as well as the Kids Superchurch (ages 5-10).

Crescendo Youth Ministry (ages 11-18) meet at this time and their class is held in the English language.

CHURCH HISTORY

Since our beginnings as a Spanish language outreach in 1991, we have seen the Lord transform a small gathering of immigrants into a thriving multicultural church serving the greater Raleigh area.

In 1998, we moved from a prayer room that would hold an overflow crowd of about 120 people to a chapel located in the new gymnasium that would sit 220 comfortably. We held services there at the 2312 Lake Wheeler Road location until we moved to our present location on September 3, 2010.  Our present facility is located on 26 acres and has the capacity to house approximately 1,000 people in the sanctuary.

Our church is now impacting the community as a whole as we welcome people from all cultures, races, and educational backgrounds, even though our beginnings were in the Spanish language. We continue to focus on Jesus’ mandate to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19) by preaching it and putting it to practice just as it is done in Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
